The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 has received a mix of positive and critical reviews. Here are some highlights from online reviewers.
- Rotten Tomatoes: Critics describe Season 2 as “darker, bolder, and more complex” than the first season. The performances of Morfydd Clark and Robert Aramayo are particularly praised.
- The Daily Beast: The show is seen as a “worthy backstory complement” to Peter Jackson’s films, with high production values and a sweeping score.
- Slashfilm: While it doesn’t reach the heights of the original trilogy, it is considered a "confident, thrilling, and gloriously nerdy return to Middle-earth".
- Screen Rant: Some critics feel the show struggles with pacing and relies too heavily on references to the original films.
- IGN: The portrayal of Sauron’s machinations is well-received, but the season suffers from disconnected subplots and thin character development.
As for the top 5 quotes from the series, here are some memorable lines.
- Galadriel: “Hope is never mere, even when it is meager.”
- Elrond: “The light of the Eldar will not fade, as long as we keep it burning within us.”
- Sauron: “In the shadows, I find my strength.”
- Celebrimbor: “To forge is to create, to create is to live.”
- Nori Brandyfoot: “Even the smallest person can change the course of the future.”
My Thoughts
- The last episodes were the best from this season.
- The plot is quite predictable. Gandalf, Humans plots are rather boring.
- It needs to breathe epic in every 1 or 2 episodes. Imo, it does not fulfil it's potential so far.
