Here are some of the best dialogues from the anime:
1. Frieren’s Reflection on Time:
- "Time is something I have in abundance, unlike the others. But it is also the one thing I cannot grasp." This line underscores Frieren's eternal nature as an elf and the melancholy she feels watching her friends grow old while she remains unchanged.
2. Regret and Memory:
- "I should have known them better. I had a thousand years, but I never understood how short their lives would be." This expresses Frieren's realization of the value of her human companions’ lives and her regret at not cherishing the time they had together.
3. Understanding Human Emotions:
- "Humans cry when they're happy, and laugh when they're sad. It’s strange, but I think I’d like to understand them a little more." Frieren reflects on her desire to understand humans better, despite initially believing they were too fleeting to matter.
4. Life Lessons from Heiter:
- "Teach others what you know, and they will remember you even when you are gone." This is a lesson Frieren remembers from Heiter, her human companion, emphasizing the impact one can have on others even after death.
5. On Journey and Change:
- "A journey’s end is just the start of another. That is why we must keep moving." This line reflects the central theme of the anime, where the end of one adventure leads to new beginnings and discoveries.
These dialogues convey the anime's themes of mortality, reflection, and personal growth, highlighting Frieren's evolving perspective on life, time, and her relationships with others. They make "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" a thoughtful and emotionally resonant series.
My Thoughts
- A refreshing anime with unique story telling. It ranks highly among my favourite anime such as Death Note, Liar Game, etc.
- A lot of episodes show the characters doing simple things. Taking things slow. Thinking things through. Which tbh, is what our fast-paced worlds could yearn for.
- It's beating a lot of top ranked anime at the moment which I think it thoroughly deserves.
